Wine Presentation by Bolfan Winery at Vila Toplissa
Vila Toplissa recently hosted a presentation of wines from Bolfan Winery. The harmony of quality wines was elevated by exceptionally tasty traditional dishes prepared in a modern way.
The evening began with a fine semi-dry Riesling (2013 vintage). This golden wine, with its intense apricot notes, was served alongside a cold starter of Šantić cheeses and Gotić butchery sausages. A special delicacy – grape seed oil – was also presented.
The dinner continued with a warm starter: a creamy butternut squash soup, perfectly paired with a ruby-red Rosé, bursting with fruity aromas of berries and raspberries.
Next came Sauvignon – a premium dry wine, straw-yellow in color, with herbal notes of green pepper and meadow grasses such as nettle. It was paired with a surprising yet outstanding dish: homemade wide noodles in a zucchini and almond sauce.
The rich flavors of venison goulash with homemade corn polenta were beautifully complemented by a fruity Pinot Noir, marked by notes of ripe plum. Speaking of plums, the highlight of the evening was the dessert – a creative blend of traditional and modern. Corn cake (kuruzna zlevka) was served with a sauce of red wine, dried plums, and plum brandy, awakening every taste bud. This paired seamlessly with the final wine of the evening – Bolfan Centurion sparkling wine.
The exceptional presentation was led by Krunoslav Puškadija (wine presenter), Dario Rutić (dish presenter), and head chef Danijel Babić.
Though the evening passed almost unnoticed in its flow, the memories of Vila Toplissa’s culinary delights and Bolfan Winery’s wines will surely linger with the guests for a long time.
